Industry Representation

The BSPB represents plant breeders by promoting and supporting their contribution to the UK’s £90 billion food production chain. Investment in research and development leads to the creation of new varieties that offer improved resource efficiency, resistance to disease and resilience to climate change. This helps to stimulate innovation, which in turn helps to reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment and benefits the UK’s agricultural economy.

We represent our members interests by collaborating with regulators, policy makers, research funders and other industry organisations. Our ongoing mission is to demonstrate the importance of plant breeding to the sustainability of British agriculture and the contribution it makes to the economy.

We do this by explaining and promoting the commitment our members have to providing the answers to crop production in the UK by continuing to develop improved varieties that help to secure the food of the future.
